8.5 Maintenance or appropriate enhancement of protective functions in forest management (notably soil and water).

8.5森林經營中保護功能的維持或適當增強（特別是土壤和水）。

8.5.1 The protective functions of forests for society, such as their potential role in erosion control, flood prevention, water purification, climate regulation, carbon sequestration and other regulating or supporting ecosystem services shall be maintained or enhanced.

8.5.1 森林的保護功能，例如:其在防止土壤侵蝕、洪水預防、水質淨化、氣候調節、碳吸存及其他調節或支持生態系統服務的潛在作用應得到維持或增強。

可能資料的整備：

       森林不僅是木質及非木質林產品的來源，更提供多種生態系統服務，如水土保持、調節氣候等。因此森林經營活動應以維護和增強這些生態功能為目標。若有森林的利用，應在不損害其生態功能的前提下進行。

因此組織應準備以下資料：

1.         提供作業活動時，除了考量經濟效益外，也將環境與社會價值納入影響評估。

2.         提供森林經營計畫，說明如何透過經營活動維護或增強這些生態系統服務，例如:水土保持效果、碳儲存量等。

3.         提供監測結果，說明如何追蹤森林生態系統服務的變化。

4.         如果森林的生態功能受到損害，能提供復育措施的計畫和執行情況。

8. Operation

8.5 Maintenance or appropriate enhancement of protective functions in forest management (notably soil and water).

8.5.1 The protective functions of forests for society, such as their potential role in erosion control, flood prevention, water purification, climate regulation, carbon sequestration and other regulating or supporting ecosystem services shall be maintained or enhanced.

Preparation of possible information:

       Forests are not only a source of wood and non-wood forest products, but also provide a variety of ecosystem services, such as soil and water conservation, climate regulation, etc. Therefore, forest management activities should aim at maintaining and enhancing these ecological functions. If there is a use of forests, it should be carried out without harming their ecological functions.

Therefore, organizations should prepare the following data:

1.         In addition to economic benefits, environmental and social values are also included in the impact assessment when providing operational activities.

2.         Provide a forest management plan that describes how these ecosystem services will be maintained or enhanced through operations, e.g. soil and water conservation effectiveness, carbon storage, etc.

3.         Provide monitoring results on how to track changes in forest ecosystem services.

4.     If the ecological function of the forest is compromised, it can provide the planning and implementation of restoration measures.
